Baba Ramdev: A Thug or A Brave Revolutionary ?

Yet another man has been advised by politicians to focus on his own job rather than getting involved in politics. This time it is Baba Ramdev who has simply brought the government in its most humiliating position with his satyagraha for bringing the black money back to India. 

How many times have we heard this earlier from politicians and the common man? When an actor supports a cause, we dismiss him saying he is doing it for publicity of his films. He should concentrate on acting not politics. When a sportsman claims that Mumbai is for everyone, politicians come out saying that he should not try to play on political pitch. When a business tycoon expresses his resentment over scams in the government, we rant the same thing asking him to be limited to his business. My question is- Just because these icons enjoy the celebrity status, have they lost the right to freedom of expression which is given to every citizen of India by the Indian constitution? And, if we are intelligent enough to understand that it is our duty to raise voices not theirs, then what are we doing other than blaming others for the widespread corruption or ridiculing people who are at least giving a try to curb it. We are literally doing nothing. "Is desh ka kuchh nahi ho sakta is all we say".

You need power to make things right. Weak cannot dictate. They can only follow.  If anything is to be changed, the powerful people in the society have to take the lead. Just try to lodge a police complaint against a powerful politician and you will come to know how helpless a common man is. So, when powerful people like Ramdev who have the capability to force government to take actions take up a cause, why don’t we support him? He at least is capable enough to do these things. Most importantly, he is even braver to go into a direct fight with the government. A common man is not. Rather than questioning his motive, why don’t we see the endless possibilities if the black money comes back to India. I do not support Baba Ramdev but I support the cause that he has taken up. He may be doing it for his own selfish reasons (what is wrong in that? We all are selfish anyways and he is no different), but he is undoubtedly supporting a good cause which has the potential to transform the live of every Indian. 

It is because of people like him and Anna Hazare that we see real life situations we could only see in movies sometimes ago. Where else did you see lakhs of people coming on roads to question the government after independence? What I believe is, he needs to be more careful and analytical before uttering something. I don’t know how many of you watched his press conference after the lathi charge on his camp but the way he handled it was pathetic. Making statements like “government was in a mood to encounter me” made many people believe that he is doing it only for publicity. 

As far as politicians are concerned, advising people to focus on their area I think is one of the most intelligent moves by the politicians. This way they can simply dismiss arguments from any non political person. The comedy is, the politicians who have been appointed specifically for this work are never going to do it anyway. And why would they want to? It is anybody’s guess how most of the politicians have wealth amounting to 1000 Crores when they get a monthly salary of 25-40 thousands.
